The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the entire stretch of Trunk Highway 280 for repaving and bridge repairs starting in April, with the goal of reopening in time for the Minnesota State Fair in August.
The northbound lanes are scheduled to close as early as April 13 to begin repaving and bridge repairs. The southbound lanes will follow in late April, once a new truck turnaround at Broadway Street is finished.
Cross streets will remain open, except at Broadway Street. Energy Park Drive will be reduced to one lane in both directions where it passes under Hwy. 280.
Traffic will be redirected via surrounding highways, but local streets will likely carry extra traffic.
After the fair, Highway 280 will be accessible again, with some ramp and lane closures. MnDOT will return to the project in 2028 to improve surface street crossings and close off the northbound left turn at Broadway.
Project updates, maps and contact information are available at mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy280stpaul-roseville.
