Summer Sparks
Summer Sparks, the Saint Paul Public Library’s summer reading initiative, continues through Aug. 31. Kids and teens are encouraged to complete reading challenges and earn books and other prizes. Pick up a reading log and a free book at any St. Paul Public Library location. sppl.org/summer.
Twin Cities PBS
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23: Twin Cities PBS presents a family-friendly event with hands-on educational activities and appearances by a costumed character from the Twin Cities PBS kids shows “Skillsville” and “Hero Elementary.” Free and open to all. No registration required.
Design A Game
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25: Now.Make.Art. leads a hands-on workshop where preschoolers and school-age children can design their own board game, arcade game, role-playing game, or video game storyboard using cardboard, found objects and art materials.

Storytime
10:30 to 11 a.m. on Fridays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, in the library’s lower-level auditorium. Designed for children ages 6 and younger with their parent or caregiver.
Playtime
11 to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, in the library’s lower-level auditorium. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers and their families or caregivers can explore, play, learn and have fun together.
Storytime in the Park
10:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 21 and 28 at College Park, 2223 Carter Ave. Songs, rhymes and puppets for children from birth to age 5, their caregivers and siblings. In bad weather, storytime moves to the library auditorium. A decision will be posted by 9:30 a.m. at sppl.org.
Handiwork @ Your Library
10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 9. Knit, crochet, embroider and socialize with your neighbors. All ages welcome. Bring your own supplies. Co-hosted by SPPL and the St. Anthony Park Area Seniors.
Mystery Loves Company Book Club
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. Read any book that fits the monthly theme and discuss it with the group. Those seeking reading inspiration are welcome, too.
Changing Times Book Group
3 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. Reading group open to all, focusing on climate, social and environmental justice themes. Co-hosted by Transition Town–All St. Anthony Park and the St. Paul Public Library. See sidebar on page 6 for details on this month’s book choice.
Crafting Teens
4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. Drop-in session with a monthly craft for ages 12 to 18.
