Dorian “Dori” Ullman, 89, of Everett, Washington, died there Nov. 9. A warmhearted, politically engaged and passionate advocate, Dori was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, community activist, environmentalist and lifelong jazz aficionado.
Born and raised in St. Paul, Dori attended St. Andrew’s elementary and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in the Class of 1954.
She built a meaningful career in community-focused work, contributing to local government and supporting community organizations. Her commitment to activism, especially environmental and political causes, shaped much of her adult life.
She held administrative assistant roles throughout her life, including at Ramsey Action Programs, and later as a county clerk for Ramsey County.
Dori was the mother of a large, loving family. She is survived by her children: Constance Sweeney (David), Margaret Costello (Paul), Kathleen Sweeney-Truitt (David, deceased), Terence Sweeney, Jonathan Sweeney (Jessica) Anne Koh (Jerry); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Constance Robison.
She was preceded in death by daughter Colleen Ann; ex-husband Terence Sweeney; and partner Robert Lacy.
A memorial gathering has been held in Washington.
