Since I started with the Park Bugle in December 2021, our social media presence and reach has grown steadily.
Over the years, I’ve noticed these platforms do more than just share news—they create space for conversations about events and happenings in our Bugleland community.
Recently, one post that sparked lively discussion concerned the fate of the Old Muskego Church on Luther Seminary’s campus. As Luther Seminary prepares to sell its upper campus, the future remains uncertain for the Old Muskego Church—originally built by Norwegian immigrants in Wisconsin and relocated to St. Paul in 1904.
On our Facebook page, community members shared fond memories of the historic site. One person recalled playing “church” there as a child. Another mentioned they had once called it the “Mosquito Church,” only later realizing it’s Muskego, not mosquito!
One commenter suggested relocating the church to Augsburg University or back to Wisconsin. Another shared a story from the 1970s, when the church’s chalice was stolen—and returned years later by the person who had taken it, reportedly while they were dying of cancer.
Others expressed hope that the Old Muskego Church will be preserved.
It was intriguing how many memories and emotions are intertwined with this historic landmark.
Social media has become a modern gathering place—a space for reminiscing, sharing stories and generating ideas for how to move forward.
Come join us on Facebook, Instagram and X to be part of the conversation.
