A taste of the Baroque is coming to St. Anthony Park on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 16, when flutist Barthold Kuijken makes a return trip to the Twin Cities for a recital at St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ.
Kuijken will be joined by University of Minnesota flute professor Immanuel Davis on traverso flute and keyboardist Donald Livingston on harpsichord.

The trio will perform a program of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons, Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. Kuijken will perform the Partita in A minor for solo flute by J.S. Bach.
Kuijken, artistic director of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, is familiar to many in the Twin Cities from his previous Schubert Club concerts and for masterclasses he has taught around town. In 2017, he collaborated with Davis and Livingston to record a CD, “La Magnifique — Flute Music for the Court of Louis XIV.”
The Nov. 16 recital begins at 7 p.m. at 2129 Commonwealth Ave. Tickets are $30 for the general public, $20 for Upper Midwest Flute Association members, and $10 for students, available at the door.
The Sunday evening recital is the first of two events scheduled for Kuijken’s visit.
On Monday, Nov. 17, he will conduct a masterclass for students at the University of Minnesota. That 6 p.m. session at the Ultan Recital Hall on the U of M West Bank campus is free to the public.
Mary Hollerich lives in the Como Park neighborhood. She is an amateur flutist and now serves as president of the Upper Midwest Flute Association.
