Lawrence “Larry” Schreifels, 78, of Roseville, died Sept. 3, 2025.
Born on Jan. 14, 1947, in St. Cloud to Gilbert and Genevieve Schreifels, Larry grew up in St. Anthony Park, graduated from Murray High School in 1965 and earned his boiler license from St Paul Technical Vocational Institute. He proudly served in the National Guard and went on to become a bricklayer.
Larry later worked for 35 years as an operating and maintenance engineer at Riverview Hospital and United Hospital in St. Paul.
He had a passion for coaching football, hockey and softball at Langford Park. The Larry’s Lemons girls’ softball team won the St. Paul City Championship two years in a row.
Larry enjoyed fishing and cabin time and was a lifelong car enthusiast. A devoted sports fan, he cheered for the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Larry loved dogs, and those who knew him will remember his kindness, humor and willingness to lend a hand.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Genevieve. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; daughters Laura (Doug) and Lynn; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, MaryAnn Bjork (Jim), Barbara Jungmann (Tom), Debbie Schreifels and Joyce Lehmann. Service has been held, with interment at Roselawn Cemetery.
