Barbara “Babbie” Langford, 90, died Sept. 16, 2025.
She worked as a teacher and then as a library assistant, primarily at St. Anthony Park Library. She loved doing Storytime with preschoolers and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Babbie is remembered for her kindness, her empathy, her bright smile and her ability to make people feel valued and loved,
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McGowan, and is survived by daughters Betsy (Fritz Kreiser), Cynthia (Tim) McGowan-Heath, Susan (Jack) McGowan-Stinski, Barbara, Anne and Patty (Peter) Orme; sister Jo Lottsfeldt; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia Cardozo and Sheila and Mark Hayes.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Dec. 29 at O’Halloran and Murphy on Snelling Avenue.
