State History Day
Thirty-seven Murray Middle School students, contributing to 22 projects, participated in State History Day on April 27 in Minneapolis. Many of these students either earned awards or advanced in the competition.
Scout Murch-Gordon qualified for Nationals for her exhibit on the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
Charlie Anderson, Peter Laska and Emmet Loth earned third place for their documentary on The Right to Clean Water.
Five students won Topical Prizes: Hazel Collins, Maja Johnson, Mary Grace Lindsley, Felix Mortensen and Rohan Stebleton.
The following students advanced to the final round and received honorable mentions:
• Erik Bollman for his documentary on Goodridge v. Dept. of Health
• Javier Cerda, Robinson Courtney and Ja’Mel Williams for their website on the National Parks
• Ethan Dotzauer for his exhibit on Racial Covenants in the Twin Cities
• Sylvie McRoberts for her website on Esther Peterson
• Felix Mortensen for his exhibit on the Great Hinckley Fire
• Rohan Stebleton for his website on the Hormel P-9 Strike
• Julia Umut-Bejarano for their website on the Love Canal
Teacher retirements
With the close of the 2024-2025 school year, two long-time Murray teachers are among the latest faculty retirees in the St. Paul Public School District. They are science teacher Tim Chase and English teacher Liz Curran.
