The St. Anthony Park Community Foundation has named resident architecture historian Kristin Anderson as its 2025 Michael Brasel Spirit of the Park winner.
The annual award is given to a neighbor who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication for service and commitment to the community. Nominations are made by fellow community members.
Anderson, who is a newly retired professor from Augsburg College, has been presenting a free monthly program on the history and architecture of St. Anthony Park for the past three years.
Anderson will ride in the 4th in the Park parade and will be presented her award during the formal program at the bandstand following the parade
Community members, who nominated Anderson for the spirit award, noted she not only is knowledgeable about local history but presents passionate, articulate, entertaining and engaging talks and tours.
Kristen had overwhelming support by her fellow community members for this nomination.
Hours of research occur before each talk or walking tour, Anderson investigates the history of each building, often searching through old building permits, photos, maps and history books to find the information she needs for her presentations. She provides a snapshot into the early days of the settlement of St. Anthony Park, a view that many residents are unfamiliar with and are able to enjoy in these free lectures and tours.
Anderson’s commitment to tell the story of our community is remarkable gift to our neighborhood.
