Street traffic has been on many neighbors’ minds, given the closure of Highway 280 this summer. On Saturday, July 25, the Changing Times Book Group meets to discuss “Curbing Traffic: The Human Case for Fewer Cars in Our Lives”. Open to all, the group meets from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the St. Anthony Park Library, 2245 Como Avenue. 

In “Curbing Traffic,” authors Melissa and Chris Bruntlett describe moving their family from North America to Delft, the Dutch “cycling city.” In Delft, streets and neighborhoods are designed for walkability, biking, and public transit, with cars treated
as guests.

The Bruntletts discovered a clean, equitable city with less noise and stress, more independence for children and elders, and lower carbon emissions. The book blends observation, research, and storytelling with photographs. 

Changing Times Book Group is co-hosted by the St. Paul Public Library and Transition Town—All St. Anthony Park. Registration is not required, and light refreshments will be served. Questions? Email [email protected].
