Richard Allan Hughes, 84, died Oct. 19, 2025. He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in St. Paul.
Dick graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis, where he played football and tennis. Dick made friends easily and had very close lifelong friendships. Dick was an avid golfer and once shot a hole-in-one at Keller Golf Course in St. Paul. He had a quick wit and enjoyed making people laugh. He had successful careers as a CPA and a realtor.
Dick was a quintessential family man who enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events, among other things.
He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Vivian Hughes; in-laws Philip and Marie Wagner; brothers Bob (Dorothy) and Wally (Marilyn); and sister Jan Sturgeon (Larry). Survivors include wife of 62 year, Phyllis; daughters Terri and Diane; and sons Tom (Sabrina) and David (Michelle); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Memorials preferred to U of M Anatomy/Bequest program or Hospice of the Midwest–Minnesota.
