District 10
Como curb cleanup this fall
The District 10 Community Council is partnering with Capitol Region Watershed District again for the 2025 Como Curb Cleanup program.
Join your neighbors in sweeping your curb weekly through November to help keep Lake Como clean.
You can learn more and register as an “official” participant, which helps us track our effectiveness, here on the D10 website: District10ComoPark.org/Cleanup#curb.
Tracking results helps District 10 plan future cleanup efforts. Once we’ve collected the data, we’ll share the results in the D10 newsletter as well on the D10 website.
If you participate in curb-cleaning, even if you didn’t register with District 10, you can report your efforts before Dec. 15
The cleanup program helps to reduce algae overgrowth in the lake.
Como Lake cleanup report
District 10’s fall Como Lake Cleanups came to an end on Sept. 20. The four cleanup events drew 106 volunteers who racked up 246 volunteer hours, cleaning 214 pounds of trash from around the lake.
Since the cleanups began in 2019, 634 volunteers have contributed 1,454 hours, removing 1,923 pounds of trash.
Kudos to volunteer lead coordinator Mike Ireland and thanks to Gordy Wrobel, Lauren and Ryan McCabe, Robin Gall, Dan Edgerton, Abby Gold and Matt Kleist for helping distribute the workload!
Monthly socials
For two years now, the District 12 Community Council has been setting aside the gavel once a month for a social gathering.
This agenda-free meet-up happens between District 10’s two monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Half-Time Rec, 1013 Front Ave. All are welcome to join.
These events provide an opportunity for District 10 regulars, veterans and newcomers to get to know one another outside our formal meetings.
For more details, check District 10’s weekly newsletter or visit District10ComoPark.org/D10Social.
