George A. Corbey, 92, died Sept. 9, 2025. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Corbey, who emigrated from Aitou, Lebanon.
George had seven siblings: Bernice, Lucille, John, Genevieve, Celia, Agnes and Catherine. He married Mary Jane Tomsche, also of St. Paul, in 1955.
George was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1954. He graduated from business college and proceeded to work for Midway Finance Company. Thereafter, he became a restaurateur.
Active in parish ministries at Holy Childhood Church, George was on the finance committee to build the new church. He even attended the first-ever eighth-grade class at the school.
George, an honest and humble man, was quick with a joke and always ready to help others.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane. He is survived by his sister, Catherine Green; four sons, Thomas (Ronelle), Gary, Daniel and Robert; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Service was held, with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
