One act play
Three successful performances of “The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet” took place in the Como Auditorium during December. Co-directors were choir teacher Huy Tran and English teacher Michael Youle.
Audiences viewed a whimsical take on Shakespeare featuring rhythmic lines, clever props and kinetic energy on stage. The set design was colorful, and the show was a treat for people of all ages.
Cast members included Daleeya Logan, Genevieve DeGaetano, Mitch Pelzer, Tylena Davis, Danaya Evans, Amelia Raabe, Laura King, Lilly Werner, Zachary Prince, Ana Thao, Klay Paw, Chris Pittmann, Charlie Ernst, Ethan Imbertson, William Fable and Nijia Wheeler.
Stage managers Lila Kopp and Clara Dunne led the tech crew consisting of Millie Huth, Levi Kallhoff, Alex Buhr, Sarah Paw, Linnea Common, Charlie McCabe and Moo Lay.
Musical events
Beyond the play, December was a busy month of for music in the Como Auditorium. The choir concert was held on Dec. 9 and the instrumental concert featuring the band and orchestra was held on Dec. 19.
Then musicians took their show on the road for holiday caroling at the Radisson Blu adjacent to the Mall of America on Dec. 20 to kick off winter break.
Spirit week and futsal tournament
Meanwhile, the transition into winter break at school included thematic dress up days while wrapping up coursework to conclude 2024.
The culminating event for students and staff to end the day on Friday, Dec. 20, was the “Battle of the Classes” futsal tournament in the gym. (Futsal is a soccer-like game played on a basketball court.)
Classes will resume for the second quarter of the academic year on Monday, Jan. 6, before the semester concludes on Jan. 24.
